I initially stumbled upon yoga whilst undergoing a series of profound life-changes in my late 20s: pregnancy, birth and becoming a mum. I attended pre- and post-natal classes with the wonderful Laura Hinde at The Yoga Hall, then found my principal teacher and guide/guru, Santoshni Perera.
I studied for the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Certificate with Tara Fraser at Yoga Junction, London, then two years later embarked on studying for their Teacher Certificate with Rosie Wright, alongside work and parenting. I was fortunate to gain the Level 4 Yoga Teacher Diploma (500hr) qualification in 2015, launching a beginner's yoga class as a student teacher in 2014.
Alongside and since qualifying and beginning to teach, I’ve continued to train, study and practice extensively in yoga, meditation, mindfulness and related disciplines. In 2013, I was privileged to attend a Mindful Self-Compassion weekend workshop with Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Chris Germer at Bangor University's Centre of Mindfulness Research and Practice. I took the full 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course in 2014. Then, in 2016 I was incredibly fortunate to experience a 5-day mindfulness retreat with Zen Buddhist Master, Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) at Plum Village. I also completed their training in Applied Mindfulness for Neurodiversity. I certified as a Mental Health First Aider in 2021 and have trained in Suicide Awareness & Prevention. I've also trained with the Institute of Yoga Sports Science, and various other spiritual and conscious communities, including Amaravati Buddhist Monastery and Bhaktivedanta Manor in Herts.
As my principal yoga teacher, Santoshni has supported me in reconciling and integrating ancient yogic wisdom and other spiritual teachings with modern life and society. I've chanted and translated and considered the classic Sanskrit yoga texts in her study group, along with other teachers.
In 2024 I completed a funded course of training in Covid-19 Rehabilitation for Sports & Exercise professionals, covering all aspects of working with people who are suffering with or recovering from Covid-19 or Long Covid viral infection.
I've also explored nada yoga (yoga of sound/sound & vibrational healing - after training with Rajesh David in 2016 and 2018), Taoism, qi-gong, somatics, as well as other integrative philosophical lineages and healing systems that share common roots with yoga.
My journey in learning and studying, practicing and integrating yoga, alongside other exercise forms, healing and insight wisdom traditions continues to the present day...
I'm a Yoga member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (formerly REPS), and a member of the College of Psychic Studies.
How I work...
My approach is rooted in a coaching focus; tailoring to my clients’ individual perspective and ability. Our bodies, minds, energies and emotions are unique and forever changing amidst and in response to our experience. They never remain completely fixed, static or constant. This means that we are each best placed to learn for and from ourselves what is best for us at any particular moment. My role as a Coach & Trainer is to support an inward ‘tuning in’ of focus and attention, so this can happen; offering a range of practical tools and techniques to support learning and progression.
I encourage my clients to focus on their core intention for their individual health and wellbeing. This inspires motivation for personal growth and development.
